Setup Network for 10 Computers

In fact, now a day the technology is more modern day by day that some countries cannot catch it well include our country as well, so in order to develop our country in this field and to make me easy to earn money I decided to make a small business to teach students who want to be a programmer, developer, networker …etc. To succeed in this business we have some steps to do as follow:

Planning and Duration

We need to install 10pc as a LAN in a room which has long equal 8m and width equal 5m. We have 2 ways to configure those PC such as:

By using cable(Hub or Switch)
By using wireless(Router)

In the other hand, it takes three days to be done of this business in step as follow:

First day, we plan for it:
- Whether where can PC stand, or where can hub or printer stand
- How many NIC to use for PC
- How long for cable
- What kind of Router, PC, Printer, Cable, Connector, Hub … to use in this LAN.
Second day, we go to buy what we planed yesterday and then prepare it to keep in our computer room.
Last day, we are going to configure all pc by using cable or wireless (router).

Designing

Requirement

In this configuration we need:

PC: 10
Connector RJ-45: 20
HUB 16 ports: 1
Modem: 1
Printer: 1
Cable: 65m
NIC or Network cards: 10

Configuration

By Using Cable

In order to ping from one PC to other PC to know each other we must set IP Address to those PC, subnet mask, and we also connect those PC to hub by cable (category 5-E with connecter RJ-45). For PC1

By Wireless Connection

* For PC6 use with printer:
For PC6 it linked to a printer and it is the provider permission to other PC in its LAN, so it has a role to share its printer to other PC to be able to use its printer.
So let see the steps how we can share printer to other PC:

We must ping PC6 with printer to know each other, and PC6 must turn on all the time during using printer.
PC6 has to create a new printer as a printer network by:
- Control Panel » printer and other hardware » printer and faxes » printer tasks » add a printer.

* For other PC having not printer to be able to use printer from PC6 it must do the steps as above but we have to change some steps as below:

For Phone Line use with Modem:

If we use Phone Line with Modem, the Modem must be the Gateway which is used to ping from Modem to know the PC in this LAN, and our Modem was connected with the internet already.

Requirement of using Modem:
- Modem must connect internet and know each other already
- Our PC must in the same group of Modem (the same IP Address)
- Modem must be the gateway

For Modem as gateway:

The IP Address of Modem LAN connection:
- IP Address: 192.168.100.27
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway:
- Preferred DNS server: 203.189.102.128
- Alternate DNS server:
